    Alpha channel question

I am new to AC technique. So, here is what I need to do: I have a sprite (simple 24-bit *.*bmp image) with anti-aliased edges. In the picture editor I can do Transparency-AC-Edit-Show. I then see a black AC map, but the inside edges are not antialiased - they are sharp, and there is no shades of gray. So how do I edit it to apply shades of gray on the inside edges? Do I need to use a 3-rd party painting program to create AC in the first place before I import my sptite into MMF2? Hope that makes sense...

    I appreciate any help.

    The fish holds the answer.

(No really, click the little fish button, and then select "Alpha channel" in the properties)

    Re: Alpha channel question

Click on the "edit" box to the left while having the Alpha Channel option selected, and you'll see a grayscale-palette to the right. Use that and the drawing tools to change the alpha channel.

Oh, and kind of yes- it's easier to use PhotoShop or something and import PNG files into MMF for proper Alpha channels. Editing them in MMF can be time consuming.

    Re: Alpha channel question

You need to change formats. BMP doesn't use alpha channels at all. MMF can only open TGA and PNG files with alpha channel. I have had no luck with TGA myself yet, but PNG files with alpha channels work great.
