Re: MMF2 + lens object=Horrible slowdown :(

I just tried a simple benchmark. It gave me 30 FPS in MMF1.5 and 30-31 in MMF2. O_o
I plan to rewrite some of the routines in Lens but Yves is probably MUCH better at doing that than me

Hey Andos It's great to get your extensions ported in the first place, and doubly exciting to hear they may get further optimized to run faster in MMF2. I'm eagerly awaiting the perspective object and the viewport object. (My two favorite extensions)

thanks

Re: MMF2 + lens object=Horrible slowdown :(

Today i had the same problem:

Opened the lens-example in mmf2: slowdown to 18 fps on every frame.
Opened the 1.5-example with mmf1.5: all works fine, 40+ fps.
opened 1.5-example with mmf2: the same slowdown.

I dont know why this happens, graphic properties (16mio colors) are the same, computer are the same.

System:
CPU: Celeron 2 GHz
Mainboard: Asrock
RAM: 1 GB Ram
Graphic: Asus ATI Radeon 9200 SE

Here is a new result:

MMF1.5 VSync ON: framerate OK
MMF2: VSync ON: Slowdown
MMF2: VSync OFF: framerate OK
and now very funny:
MMF1.5 running in background and MMF2 VSync ON: framerate OK

The framerate slowdown only happens when MMF2 does NOT change the resolution mode. If this option is checked, framerate is OK.

Maybe it's a problem with VSync in MMF2 and some graphic cards?

Hmmm weird.
I'm gonna have a look at improvements for Lens later on and Yves said he *maybe* could find time and help me improve the overall speed of it with some tricks. But have patience, I'm busy as ever at the moment :P

Yes, it's weird. What does happen if you increase the frame rate in the properties of the application?

Yves.
