Just Ordered My Full Version!

Not strictly tech support related, but I thought I'd just mention that I went ahead and ordered my full version (MMF2, not Dev version since I don't quite understand what I'd get for twice the cost... and I can upgrade later, if needbe).

I know I've been filling this board with losts of questions, requests and some complaints about the tool, but it really is an awesome tool for whipping up a quick game and avoiding all the hassle of writing windows games from scratch (which I've done before and it's a pain).

As it stands now, in a little less than 2 weeks, I've managed to create a pretty cool Space Wars/Star Control homage (with a Star Trek theme) and I've gotten it much farther than I expected I'd be able to with this tool. There are just a few wishlist things I'd *really* like to add to it that I'm not able to do right now (better AI, runtime zooming, support for all gamepad/joystick buttons) that it sounds like I can do with extensions - some of which are available now.

Anyway, if there are others on here who aren't using the full, purchased copy, I highly recommend it. It's awesome!

It really takes me back to the days when I was a scrawny teenager making games on my Commodore and having total freedom and total control and whipping out cool new games in very short time periods. Being a professional game programmer these past nine years or so has been cool and all, but professional games are huge undertakings that you can't do by yourself and it's very much a collaborative effort. Having had the experience of making my own games (and later mods for games) by myself, with total control, I really appreciate the opportunity Clickteam has given me with MMF2 to of making truly homecrafted games again...

    Buy it!

Just curious how do you think Clickteam could improve the A.I since all A.I work I've seen is custom made, and as far as I can tell, MMF never had built in A.I engine

Not really "AI", but routines that could be useful for AI if someone wanted to put AI into their game. Like being able to know if your object is pointing in the direction of another object (within a certain range of directions/angles even). Being able to tell an object to just move towards another object maybe. Being able to turn an object towards another one slowly. Maybe (and this is a bit crazy) being able to tell if there is a clear "line of sight" between one object and another (in other words, if you fired a shot from one object to another, would anything get in the way). Etc, etc, etc.

Anyway, it seems like there are some extensions out there that do this sort of thing, so I'm looking forward to trying those out in the full version. And if making new extensions isn't too much trouble, maybe I'll write my own "AI Utility" extension...?

    Congratulations .

I also find MMF 2 to be a great tool for rapid prototyping of game ideas. I agree that MMF 2 is quite weak in the AI department though.
