    Raven, I know that You said that You don't want any workarounds, but since I cannot explain why this feature is out (I just don't know <img src="/center/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />), I'll post this idea for the simplest workaround ever...

    Create a new object (let's call it "target_object"), make it invisible on frame's start and then set it's x and y positions by Your expression, the one You'd like to have the bullet shoot at... And then, just shoot at the direction of the "target_object". I guess that it does it in a way that doesn't slow down Your app at all, or almost at all. If You'll both set it's x and y positions and shoot using a fastloop - it'll work like a charm.
