    The backup system

Why isn't this like in MMF1.5 in that it saved during a certain time, NOT when you actually save the main file?

Because something really screwed up in my complex code, and to my delight I have 4 more files with the same screwed code because of this system.

It completely defeats the backup system, really!

    That really shouldn't be necessary.

    Re: The backup system

IIRC Multimedia Fusion 1.0 and 1.2 had two seperate features known as "Autosave" and "Autobackup". The former allowed you to specify the interval between automatic saves and the latter allowed you to specify amount of backups to be produced.

MMF 1.5 dropped the "Autosave" feature, possibly because it had negative effects such as emptying the clipboard and undo buffers. So MMF 1.5 only had autobackup, which doesn't have any time aspect. MMF 2.0 kept autobackup but did not re-instate autosave (or combine the two for an autobackup function).

IMO software of a sufficient complexity to be useful will nearly always crash at least once if used often enough, especially when lots of third-party software is added to the mix. It is more of an issue of damage limitation than trust.

    Re: The backup system

Joshtek, I would've been on these forums sooner if MMF 1.5 didn't work as I want MMF2 to. MMF1.5 used what you specify as "autosave" or I'd be angry several years ago.

And I know a program can crash, I didn't lose anything from a crash here, something screwed up with the engine and I can't find the fault.

I also dislike the fact that all undo levels are discarded when you save... that wasn't in MMF 1.5 either. Or I had a magic version.

EDIT: With autobackup it could at least try not to save to all of them every time you save. At least that is what it seems like it is doing.

No, this feature was not in MMF 1.5, it was in MMF 1.0/1.2 but was removed for the reasons Joshtek mentioned (and I think it was causing random problems when the animation editor was open).

    Re: The backup system

    Read my previous post ^^^

Plus, that is VERY odd because in my 1.5 it was autosave without problems. The only circumstances MMF 1.5 removed undo levels were if I ran the entire application.

I am going to have to vote on that magic version from my experiance of MMF 1.5 Pro. I can not recall ever having undo options after a save since my first version 10 years ago or so.

    Sorry
