Are there individuals, companies out there who will build custom extensions for MMF2? If I can describe the functionality I need, can someone bid a price? Thanks.

I don't know of anyone who does it as an advertised service, but it is likely that some developers will be up for it (depending on how difficult it is and how much they get paid, of course). I have heard of several bespoke extensions being made in the past, but I can't remember which objects.
Unless your demands are "topic secret", I'd say the best thing to do was to clearly state what you need and see if there are any interested developers who feel capable of doing it (for money or free). And you never know, there may already be an extension or workaround to achieve what you need.
Oh, and if you do get someone to make an extension, it'd be nice if you could get them to release it to the community (unless it is something really specific). Good luck!

I agree but for one point: I think even specific extensions should be made public.
Maybe someone else is trying to do the same thing? Or has another use for the
extension the developer hasn't even thought of.
Having extension development as an advertised (or even paid for) service might be a bit hard on the developer though, because from what I've seen, extension development is more or less self taught, so being able to prepare yourself for any kind of requests you might recieve would be pretty hard.
You risk very highly, disappointment or distrust by people who exact you to be able to make anything they request.
I'd quite like to hear the request because I could do with earning a bit of money, but on the other hand I would not like to take anything up I do not have experience in.
i will personaly give 10$ to the first that makes a mmf1.5 (.cox) to mmf2 (.mfx) working converter :P
(it will have to work with all extensions in my game frogger bound 2, it uses tons of them) priv msg me
I don't think such a tool would be legal.

Ehh, there are no legal instruments preventing people from creating translators and I might add there never will be.
In regards to using a translator/converter on a piece of copyrighted software that would be a grey area of the law.
There is an important point to remember in all this interlectual property law. That is you must be prepared to defend your copyright. Nobody is going to defend it for you.
Anyway this thread is about a custom extension builder that could translate recompile a extension into MMF2.
The way I see it is like this, I recoken that if you asked premission the developer most likely grant it.
Just remember this, all of us are trying to scrap a living, if you hit it big ever with an app developed by MMF, think of the extension developers, Clickteam that helped you get there. When you share you fortune with those that helped, your spur and encourage growth for your own future.

By making a translator you also indirect disassembly the extension and recompiling it with changes made to it. So you are therefore modifying something other people has copyright on and at the same time releasing it under the orignal authors name without his/her coorporation which I doubt is illegal as well.

Softwarewolf:
Have you tried contacting the developers who made the extensions?
If you express an interest maybe they will convert them.
Also I don't think $10 will get much now days
