Displaying the Date in 05/05/2006 format

I need to display the date in the Edit object. I am retrieving the month, date and year from the Date&Time object by this command: Str$(month of( "Date & Time" )) + Str$(day of month of( "Date & Time" )) + Str$(year of( "Date & Time" )). It displays as 05052006. I need to have it 05/05/2006 and can't figure out how to put "/" in there. Any help is greatly appreciated.
