TrueType Font Inquiry

For a String object, when I use a truetype font (CataneoBT) with a small font size, the outcome degrades drastically (It looks very ugly).

Besides resorting to the Text Blitter object, what other options do I have?

Anti-aliasing could make it better/worse. Probably worse, but its worth a try.

The general rule is that for text / printing use a serif (with the little feet on the letters) and for screen display use sans serif (no feet) fonts. At small font sizes, it's hard to look shart at only 72 dpi on the screen.

Is anyone familiar with the freetype - a library that allows you to easily load truetype fonts? If so, would anyone be interested be making such extension if compensated?

Windows already handles FreeType without problems.
You simply installs it as an regular font. It will show upp like any normal font in any program.

whilst we're on the topic of fonts - what actually happens to fonts in the string object when you add semitrasnparency?

Is it that true type fonts have to pixelate?
