    Add backdrop limit

    Hi,

I've been using add backdrop to create a blood effect. Unfortunately it appears that there is now a limit to the number of backdrops I can add, after which backdrops will not be added properly (backdrops I add will disappear after scrolling and then not scrolling).

I know there is the issue of MMF storing each added background separately and slowly eating up the computers RAM. Is this a temporary solution to this issue? I'm not getting shirty or anything, but if it is could you please remove it in the next build?

    Thanks

Hmmm... what you are describing only happens when I use the action "Paste into background", rather than "Add backdrop".

    Weird.

Yes. In addition, Add backdrop only eats memory when you're using the Active Picture Object. I think a replacement for that one object would be nice.

Is there any way to make an "active picture object" go behind a backround system box? (mabye something to do with layers)

I would use the picture object but it crashes mmf2 whenever i try to load a file <img src="/center/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Yes, create a new layer, move it to front and move your BSB object to the new layer.

Works fine here. When does it crash exactly? Does it crash at runtime or edittime?

The picture object crashes whilst editing.

Also the active picture object crashes if i try to load a picture after loading it in a backdrop object

    ( mmf2 standard, R241, windows 98, D:\...\pictures\lake.jpg )

    Re: Add backdrop limit

OK, I'll try with Windows 98, thanks for the info.

BTW, about this topic, the maximum number of backdrop objects you can create at runtime (with the Create Backdrop option - or with the Paste into Background action in the layers above the first one) is equal to the maximum number of objects in the properties of the frame. I.e. you can have MaxNumber active/extension objects and MaxNumber created backdrop objects.

    Re: Add backdrop limit

Ok i've done a little bit of testing and I've found this:

You can add up to 300 backdrops, after which all backdrops you add will behave as if you used "paste image into background". This number 300 sounds familiar, wasn't it the maximum number of different objects you could have in MMF? Maybe there is a small error in the MMF2 code that causes added backdrops to adhere to this limit?

    Re: Add backdrop limit

What's the maximum number of objects in your frame? This number also gives the maximum number of backdrop objects you can create at runtime, as I've said above.
