    Re: Feature Request

[]Even as I sit at my computer, I can see tree branches and laundry on the line blowing in the wind, clouds moving across the sky and such out the window. [/]
Sounds very much like Active Objects to me...

This is what Actives are for... Backdrops are static, actives can animate. I can't see much advantage in a stripped-down active object that could animate but not move/have alterable values. You can even put actives on a separate layer now so that they don't interfere with your foreground.

For the original topic: I can actually see why you think events worded like that would make things clearer, but I honestly don't see the existing methods being classified as a "workaround".

Sometimes part of the joy of it all is figuring out a solution, or trying to find an answer which works for you. I know that if the computer could answer your every need without you ever having to ask, well, what fun would that be?

    Re: Feature Request

There is a way to do effecient & big background animations with Background System Boxes. Make a separate BSBox for each 'frame' and display them one after another (by altering their positions or whatever). This is much faster than using an active object.

I also noticed that doing parallax scrolling with BSBoxes is a lot faster than using layers.

Yeah, i'm doing something like what Bernie said in my game. I've got around 800 BSB objects (thanks to the create-BSB bug) just for the background. Not all are visible on the screen at one time though, obviously.

    Re: Feature Request

Nobody replied about the collision on/off comparison, so is this not possible? I would like to request new options on the menu for that also, you say it's not a workaround but im not sure i agree as it seems alot more complex to do than it should be and i think of a workaround as doing something another way because the option to do it is not there, i may be wrong of course but thats how i have always thought of the word workaround <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
