    new graphic effects

    greets.

question about new eventual upcoming ink effects in future MMF versions on layers or/and related extensions (overlay redux 3?)

so, how difficult would be to implement the photoshop-like functions such 'dodge' and 'burn' wich would be very great in long-termed effects and stuff plus overlaying, maybe while importing multilayered images like .psd or .tif files ?

If someone made a pixel shader plugin then the sky's the limit.
finally we could use 3d cards for stuff

According to Wikipedia, "Pixel shaders ... are used to compute properties which, most of the time, are recognized as pixel colors".

According to Irrlicht3d.org, "A pixel shader is nothing more than a short program executed on the GPU for every pixel, to calculate the color of every pixel".

According to Pieter Germishuys, "A pixel shader is a function that computes effects based on a per-pixel basis".

According to Microsoft, "A pixel shader is an advanced graphics function that DirectX and video cards use to generate graphics effects, such as image reflection or a movie style effect".

According to Smart Computing, "Pixel shading is similar to vertex shading, but rather than focusing on the vertex of a triangle, pixel shaders focus on the coloration and shading of individual pixels, or picture elements, the tiny dots that are the smallest component of a computer image. Each time your graphics card creates an image, it has to calculate the color, shading, and texture of each pixel in the image. A pixel shader is a program that efficiently determines what the settings should be for each pixel. Pixel shaders also determine how lighting and various surface effects will affect the coloration of each pixel".

    Re: new graphic effects

You won't be seeing pixel shaders in MMF until it can use Direct X 8/9 or OpenGL 2, and so far, the only thing we have that uses that is the 3D Mesh object. Maybe once the Irrlicht Object is released it'll have shader support.
