Is it possible to make a Rubik's cube game?

Anybody know a way how to do the whole thing. The rotating and all. It's really tough. Raytrace is even having trouble. I kind of want it so that you can see three sides then turn to the other three sides. Then click on one face to see that face. Then use buttons (ex:bottom row right) to rotate the cube while on that one face.

1 addition, have you ever seen it done? Except for that PS3 commercial, I don't think it would be worth the time, but if you could pull it off, I bet you would have a nice little desktop time killer on your hands.

Also I think trying to rig the actual rotation on different planes of the cube would be the worst nightmare since Nightmare on Elm street...

Ive worked out all the actions to shift each row around by 3 but the difficult bit is rotating the planes perpendicular to the outermost rows...
