    multimedia presentations

Hello. I am new to MMF. I have started a new job with a company that would like me to use MMF1.5 to make multimedia presentations. I have no experience with type of program and the only tutorials I can find are for MMF2 and they are for gaming. I have ordered a book recommend from this website but it is for gaming also. I have been given several days to play around with this program but I am not having much luck really understanding how to implement MMF features. I read through the forums and the language is really above me comprehension so it isn’t much help to me at this stage. I think this is something that I could learn with some more clear instruction for beginners. What are you recommendations? Is there someplace I can take a class or order some kind of instructional DVD?

    Re: multimedia presentations

The question I would have is, what kind of multimedia presentations are you intereseted in making? If you just want t have a few graphics and text that comes in fromt he side or top, then I would suggest using PowerPoint. If you want more complicated animations or simulations that illustrate your points, then MMF is the way to go.

From what I understand they are looking for presentations for training that incorporates sound and video and that is also interactive.

    Re: multimedia presentations

The presentation movement comes with build 243. To quote the official description:
This movement is designed to aid the creation of presentation or slide shows with MMF2. For simple presentations no events are required, all set-up can be completed in the frame editor and the movement will do the rest including swapping frame! No need to position objects off screen in the frame editor to create fly-in effects, position how they will appear when complete and let the movement take care of the rest.

    Re: multimedia presentations

Joshtek, Amh says he's using mmf1.5. The presentation movements are for mmf2 only. Of course it's possible to do presentations with mmf1.5, but it's easier in mmf2 since you don't have to make the movements yourself.

Presentations are not the easiest to do in mmf, actually simple games are simpler to do. I'd say you follow some tutorials for beginners. Even if the tutorials are for games, you would learn the basics and would be better prepared for making good presentations.

    Re: multimedia presentations

You know, now that I have read your response I think I might have better luck having them upgrade to MMF2 here at my work. I will push for it, but being the new kid on the block I better have some results with it if I do. I think I would have much more luck doing the tutorials with the current version as well. I have been an illustrator for a long time and I find MMF very fascinating so I think I will invest in a personal copy for myself. If I can ever figure out how to use it I can see so many great ways I can apply it to my work. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

    Re: multimedia presentations

If they already own a copy of MMF 1.5 they can get a discount. MMF 1.5 should be fine for most multimedia projects, tho.
