Backdrop Objects - Collision with box

Just as a note, I'm running MMF2 build 243RC. This problem has occurred in previous builds as well. Up until now I always thought the property "collision with box" in regard to obstacle backdrop objects meant that collisions were registered in collision events even if a transparent part of the backdrop collided.

I'm running a 360 degree platformer engine. Some of the edges of platforms have rounded edges to look nice, but I want the collisions to be handled as if the backdrop was just one box and not one with a rounded corner. I thought "collision with box" would help because I could have sworn I've been using it in the past and it's worked fine. Has anyone else had this problem or is this isolated to just myself?

It's always worked that way for me - but in this post, you didn't actually say what your problem was!

Re: Backdrop Objects - Collision with box

My bad...I wrote this post late at night and must not have been paying attention. My previous post might imply...but when I check the "Collision with box" property of a backdrop object, it doesn't work. Collisions are handled as if I had never checked the box. Like I said previously, I remember this working in the past and I don't believe there is any condition to make "x object is overlapping backdrop" ignore collision with box. I'm using small active objects as sensors...when they overlap an obstacle backdrop they are supposed to register a collision and they are not doing so.

I thought that might be it... but I can't really be any help here, as the "Collision with box" property does exactly that for me in b243 and previously.

It normally works for me too...I don't remember when it stopped working...for anyone who doesn't get my description, this is what it looks like:

The black area around the white circle represents the transparent area around the circle. The player character should be on top of the black, however since the "Collision with box" seems to be ignored...the player is running around the white circle (the opaque area).

Hmm, interesting you'll need to upload an example file. There are numerous reasons something like this might stop working.

joewski, if I sent you a link with the actual file with the problem, would that be best? I'd prefer not to release the engine open source at the moment (I probably will in the future, just not now), so if I could avoid posting a public link, that'd be nice.
