    Vitalize extensions

Not a whole lot of people have the Vitalize plug-in, or are even aware of what Vitalize is. Getting people to download the plug-in and assuring them it is not malicious is one thing, but I think prompting them to download additional extensions right after installing Vitalize may really cause a decrease in people actually willing to play the Vitalize-based game.

I use my own download application for Vitalize games on my website. My question is: Is it possible to have the download application download the required Vitalize extensions so the user will not have to be prompted to do so?

I obviously know how to download files through a Vitalize program, but I believe these extensions would have to be installed to a specific directory. Is this possible?

I could be wrong, but I thought that giving the user a choice was a deliberate feature. It is my belief that this forum should not be used to discuss how to circumvent security features of software. If security holes exist then they should be reported to the relevant developers.

    Re: Vitalize extensions

I would not really think of it as being so, considering the dialog does not specify which extensions would be downloaded. Also, I am aware that some extensions are not available for Vitalize applications due to security risks. I would think the extensions that are available for internet use are safe. I believe it is the TimeX extension that causes the prompt in this particular case. If the users of this forum agree that this would be a security issue, then I suppose the prompt will just have to stay.

Why would the prompt be there in the first place if it wasn't to give the user a choice? I didn't programme the feature so I can't say.

Its always best and safe to give the user notice and a choice on downloading items to their computer. I don't think you can use the download function to download anyplace else other then the temp directory.

    Re: Vitalize extensions

Yeah I totally agree with you Morthian. It's not easy to spread a web-browser plug-in, there's already many and some come pre-installed with Windows. Like you I'm worried about the "additional extensions" prompt that might definitely put some people off.
And In my specific case the prompt happens twice because I have a pre-loader.

According to Yves, the prompt will be removed from Vitalize! 4 because he feels it's not necessary. The user already accepted to install Vitalize!, and the additional extensions are part of it.
    That's good news!

    Re: Vitalize extensions

    Thank god, finally.

No more "Oh, I clicked 'no' cause I didn't want it to download anything -extra- on my computer..." from people who don't know what extensions are.
