    Gradient Background object

It's a very nice extension ! Is it possible to update it for not displaying a popup settings box and use instead the properties panel of MMF2 ?

Maybe you can rebuild the installer because it adds an entry in windows uninstaller, adds an icon on the desktop and adds an uninstaller in the MMF2 folder...

Why does it ask the version of MMF2 ?
The installer of this extension is strange...

Yes, it's a really nice extension!
I got an advice for an expression:
    GetRGB at X,Y
This would be really great. You could draw gradients in the overlay very easy!

    Re: Gradient Background object

Thanks for the Input, Davo our Extension guy has a ton of great ideas...

I think we are going to leave the popup window in place as it is consitant with setting up the extension, you have to selet your inital Colors and the Pop window allows the user to set that up instantly...

I will however suggest the GetRGB expression! any other Ideas to make the extension better?

    Re: Gradient Background object

    Congratulation Kisguri !
    Some wishes :
    > Set gradient mode (linear, circular)
    > In Circular mode (set X/Y center)

    > Set range of gradient (as Photoshop) in %
    e.g. Set "1 cue point" at "5%" "R:200 G:150 B:10"
    etc...

But MMF2 components for settings panel can do that... It's not important but it's better. :p

It's a lot more logical to use the toolbar which was specifically created for that purpose, rather than a popup box. Remember that all clickteam extensions use the properties toolbar, so it's obviously the consistent choice. The popup box was used earlier because of MMF1's lack of a properties toolbar, and I was kind of hoping that people would stop do that now.

The icon graphics reset: The popup result in a nasty side effect. I always have the "update icons automatically" feature on since it's great for actives. However, that also mean that if I edit the gradient object's icon, and then later double click the object it to change the initial colors - it resets to the original icon - something that doesn't happen with changes in the properties toolbar.

Slow workflow: With a popup, you have to open the window, change the gradient settings, close the window, finally get to look at the result - and if you are unhappy, repeat those steps. When you work with the properties toolbar, you see the change instantly.

The wrong order problem: A popup more or less "asks" the person to customize the colors before resizing and moving it into place. However, the most effective way to do it is the other way around. It's a lot easier to decide what colors that should be used when the object has already been placed in the graphical design.

It's a great extension though and I feel a bit guilty for whining about this, but you have to trust us about the properties toolbar being a lot more consistent. That's after all also what the quick backdrop object use.

Not all, we have kept the setup box for complicated extensions (system boxes for example), but I agree that the Background Gradient extension should use the property bar, it would be easier to use and actually it's very easy to program, as there are predefined color properties.

    Re: Gradient Background object

Just tried this extension and it's pretty neat .
I can envisage easy day to night effects using this.

Anything to make it more user friendly is very welcome .
