"Play Sound from File" Not working in Built App

I do apologise for another thread, but this problem is entirely seperate to the other one, and therefore not appropriate for posting in it. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but we'll see.

And this is probably the result of me missing something entirely basic, and not MMF bugging up.

Ok, heres the thing - my game is using an OGG soundtrack which is stored externally, (basically so I can easily swap files at a later date and users can edit the soundtrack should they find my choices offensive to their ears, :p), which works fine inside MMF.

Now when the application is built, it stops working. Period. No music, no sound effects, nothing.

Before anyone points out the obvious, the coding for playing the files is:
    Appdir$+"\Music\TITLE.ogg"

And, yes, Music is placed in the Application's directory.

I've also tested the unprotected APP in the folder, and it works, so I'm unsure what i've done wrong.

    Thanks in advance.

(EDIT: Oh, and yes, im using MMF Developer, latest patch released by Updater.)

Re: "Play Sound from File" Not working in Built App

I had this exact same problem with Sound Bopper 2. OGG files in an MMF 2 application play fine but with Sound Bopper 2 playing external files, OGG files were not playing. What I think is happening here is that when the OGG file is internal, MMF 2 is using an internal OGG player to play the sound file. But when you play an external file, it looks for a sound codec on the PC. If you don't have an OGG codec installed on your computer, it won't work. Try downloading and installing an OGG codec and see if that solves your problem.

It's possible that the correct sound filter isn't being included because the OGG is being treated as an external file - check Sound Filters under the Application Properties.

Aah.. Didn't realise there was an "Automatic" option. Thanks, I've disabled it and it now works!
Knew it had to be something simple.

Yes, it's usually due to filters not included if you play only external files.

Paul, when you play an external sound file (with the internal sound object), MMF2 uses its own filters, you don't need any OGG codec.

That's weird, I just had someone complain that they couldnt get the sound to play in game. They didn't give me much more information other than that, any ideas what could've caused it?

If they are on XP SP2, tell them try disabling Data Execution Protection.
