    Re: Quick layer question

I confirm you should use 1 quick backdrop object instead of 64 backdrop objects, that will be faster as MMF2 will have to check the clipping only once instead of 64, it will need to retrieve the address of the bitmap to display only once, etc.

If a layer is hidden, there is no need to check or uncheck the Save Background option, as it's not displayed.

    Re: Quick layer question

In the same idea of getting MMF to display things faster (and reducing the CPU load). Let's say I use backdrop objects as bricks to build the walls/floors of my super mario game. But I don't want the bricks to repeat too much, so I'm using several ones each with slight graphic changes.

Is it faster for MMF to display my 100 tiles scenery if it's made of 2 different bricks or if it's made of 10 different bricks?
Yves you said above that MMF needs to retrieve the address of the bitmaps, so I guess that option 1 is faster. Am I right?
I did some tests but it's difficult to measure MMF's performances.

NOTE: My scenery is scrolling and all my bricks (backdrop objects) use alpha channel. I know it adds to the CPU load but I have no other choice.
