    Re: MMF2 Programs on PSP

    You don't actually need to buy the 'official' PSP SDK. If you have C++ knowledge, you can make your own applications for the PSP for free. There are even SDKs which people have made themselves and released for free. You can't make 3D games like you buy from game stores, however you can make 2D games like are made with MMF.

    It would certainly be possible to create an application to do that, however it would be impossible to simply convert MMF2 applications as they are Windows based. A completely new and different version of MMF would need to be made, which I think is unlikely.

    Since it runs the .Net framework, I'd assume that a port of MMF to XBox 360 could be quite feasible. The GarageGames people, who make Torque, has created a version of its 2D engine called TorqueX that runs with XNA on XBox360 and Windows.

    Of course, somebody has to do the porting I guess MMF is written in 'normal' C++, and porting it to managed C++, while feasible, is hardly non-trivial.

    Waaaait a minute >_<

    At any rate, I'm not sure if porting to a console / portable console is even considered all that useful or even practical while PCs are ultimately capable of much more in terms of flexibility and graphics (of course, also alot more expensive if your trying to build a PC thats as powerful as an XBox360, graphics wise anyway). I used to wish that back in MMF1.2... but then, I got a video card that let me connect my PC to my TV... and I had a Playstation 2 Controller plugged in my PC, so ultimately, it was the same experience as a console.

    Yes, I agree it would be completely awsome to play a game I make on a console / handheld machine, but ultimately, I think it's best to focus on current things like Vitalize 4 and Hardware acceleration.

    Though thats just my opinion on the matter. ^_^;

    sure, if you want to break the law and have sony chasing you / CT for a few billion, you would be breaking the license and they dont tend to like that

    Re: MMF2 Programs on PSP

    It is not illegal - it's called homebrew and several Sony officials have said they somewhat support the fact that people want to develop games for the console. The only reason Sony doesn't actually support it is because it allows people to create applications which allow you to run pirated software, which is illegal.

    It isn't breaking any license as the SDK isn't owned nor was it created by Sony - it was created by external developers and developed to run on the PSP.

    Anyway it's pointless to talk about because it is never going to happen anyway.
