    How to check animation direction?

I have an AO with one "Stopped" image at 0.
    3 animation directions at 0, 8, 16.

I need to check what animation direction is playing/is over but I can't make it work, it only seem to check stopped directions. I've searched and read the help section and the forum here.
Again, I must be missing something obvious.

The compare to current direction expression does exactly that, regardless of what anim is playing, and there is also a condition to check which animation is playing. Or did I miss something thats causing you a problem..?

That was my conclusion also but it doesn't work, at my end at least.
I have made an example file. I'd appreciate if anyone have the time to look at it and inform me of what I am doing wrong . [smile]

    File here (220Kb zip)

The example only have 2 dir animations.

Re: How to check animation direction?

I always had problems with Current Direction... the best method I found is that "When object is face [Direction]... Set Alterable Value to [Direction]"

Then you can compare direction using the alterable value instead. It seems to update quicker to me anyways. For example:

    *Object is Facing Down
+ Active 1 is Overlapping Backdrop
    - Movement: Stop

Kinda resulted in me being able to nudge my way through (albeit slowly) through a wall), but when I replaced the Direction with a value, it actually stopped completely.

It worked for me if I changed the 2nd events action slightly.

Instead of setting animation direction I chosed the set direction action.

That's tripped me up in the past too - they're subtly different things.
