Ah! How did you do that, exactly?

I tried to look at your code, but it's a little beyond me... I can't really understand most of it. Like, why did you have to set the size of the fog object to frame size /8, rather than just frame size? How did you get one overlay to cause invisibility in the other?

The size thing is mainly for speed...
I use two overlays for the fog... one that's frame size/8, this one contains the actual fog in an 1/8th representation (1/1 would be very slow)...
Then I have the other overlay.. this one is the same size as the window (ie 640x480) ... every frame the fog is updated in the small version and then a chunk of it is copied into the big one...

I think I get it a bit! Thanks.
I still don't fully understand though... argh, my grasp of overlays really is shockingly bad. How did you make one overlay act as a window through the fog to the background behind? What is the active overlay object used for?

The active overlay allows the overlay object to act as an active object. It allows it to go in front of actives as well as allows for scrolling.. A normal overlay object is always in the background and can't be used in scrolling applications... I simply used semitransparency to be able to see what's behind it!

you could use make every direction of "still water" have a bit more water and make an event
    ~Always
+flowing water collides with still water
-still water-set direction to direction of stillwater +1

whats the point of having dynamic water? it is possible without doubt, however, MMF graphics engine wouldnt be able to handle. You would need to work with a DirectX streight developing language, or C++

Just on a note, is the water supposed to be removed later? or filling only? because it may be possible to make a filling only water system in MMF.

Try havening two animations. The water fall/squirt, and a rising water level. Place the rising water level in the background of your land, and the water fall/squirt where ever. Then at start of frame, the rising water animation will start and so will the waterfall and it will look like the land is filling up. but just without the "flowing to the deepest part, then filling up" effect.
