scintilla extension

If a developer wants a challenge, it could be to adapt the scintilla component as a MMF2 extension.

I used Scintilla in a C++ project before and would like to avoid it in future, myself

I didnt start it, but I did use it a while ago. If there are easier projects that offer similar functionality. I would endorse it

That looks interesting. It can be used in free and commercial applications, as well.

We need to scope out more items like that where devs can adapt source for extensions rather than re-invent the wheel.

Too bad this one is not getting good reviews on ease

It's used in Notepad++ so I think it's avery powerful one.

Xtraverse made it before and it was never finished. It's used by several powerful development and text tools, so I'd approve of its use if it was made simple enough! I can't remember how good the first extension was for this kind of thing.

I remember Xtraverse saying that making an extension around it was a nightmare. I think it kinda went like the Irrlicht object. Exciting project but too much work for a single developer.

Maybe a first port could be done with basic functions (like line numbering and colors support) and then, the object could be updated through patches to implement more advanced functions.
