'Painting' in Storyboard mode [Large pic inside]

    Let me explain.

Let's say I was making a top-down, vertical scrolly space shoot-em-up and I made the level, say, 20 screens tall and was filled with tiles, like this:

Is there a way to 'paint' with the gray tile (hold the mouse button down and a trail of tiles are left). Really, I want to know the quickest way to place a load of tiles in the way I want. I don't really want to create a grid of tiles then move them one by one.

If you hold down CTRL while dragging a tile, it'll create a duplicate of it at the area you drag to rather than just moving it. By selecting whole areas and dragging them in this way, you can copy more tiles at once to speed it up.

You could also try some cleverness with the View/Toolbars/Customize menu to put in some keyboard shortcuts to make duplication faster, or something.

It looks ace, by the way.

I believe he means that he wants to be able to draw by clicking the mouse. If this is want you want, the simplest way is to do this:

    +Always
-Set X of gray tile to xmouse
-Set y of gray tile to ymouse

+Repeat while left mouse key is pressed
-Add Backdrop (or paste into background)

This is the easiest way, but if you move the mouse too fast it doesn't make a steady stream. To make a steady stream is a little harder, but I'll tell you if you want.

Maybe it would be worth the effort of making a little level editor for your game. That way you can 'event' your own way of placing the tiles and you can also even reuse the same frame for all your levels and you can make new levels without starting up MMF2 if you make that tool.

Re: 'Painting' in Storyboard mode [Large pic insid

    Thanks guys

@ DavidN: So I could set something up on a shortcut key to say 'paste the selected active here'?

@ Brandon: I don't want to paint with the mouse 'in game', it's while I'm creating my levels but thanks for the tip

If you're interested in the game, here's a wip for you to enjoy ( not done in MMF2 I'm afraid but I'm converting it, along with other WIP's), tell me what you think

Keys:- UP / Down / Left Right Arrows & CTRL to fire

    My suggetsions:
    1. Use some Quick Backdrops objects, make them like 10 cubes x 20 cubes, 5 cubes x10 cubes, etc, then use them in yer game.

    2. Duplicate the cubes.(right-click on one, then choose "duplicate"

Just makes it faster setting it all up...
