    Remember in the Games Factory?

    Hi guys,

Just toying around with some of the new features is in MMF2, but i cant seem to find the function that runs your frame and states events as you happen. I remember it was the clapper board icon on the top right in the games factory. Is it still in MMF2?

    Thanks!

    Yeah, that was it.

I used it a lot at first but I found it became more irritating than anything when it kept asking you every litle thing.

You would run it with the sole purpose of wanting to test 1 event but have to "ok" about 100 unanticipated events before it.

    Maybe that's just me tho

That was a feature for beginners but it was not very good to let them learn the event editor.

Thanks for the info everyone! Oooh and while I'm here, is there a way to fade in/out of the frames without using those built in ones? They just tend to wipe, and its not the style im after. Thanks!

Re: Remember in the Games Factory?

You can use a frame-sized black/white object and continually alter its semitransparency to get a fade effect from one colour - it's not the performance-killer that it sounds like.

Interesting to know that someone still used the Step Through Editor - I tended to forget about it entirely. The debugger is just about the closest thing to it now, allowing you to see values and properties of objects and advance frame by frame.

What would be absolutely fantastic would be a way to "step through" the event list one line at a time, setting breakpoints and letting the user see what happens before and after each event, but this idea is possibly mental as far as actually implementing it is concerned.

Clickteam created some interfaces for Run-Time debugging for TGF which had breakpoints and runtime info, but I don't know how far they got with the actual coding of the system. Beyond the most simple of games, the step-through editor was only useful for creating time-based events.

I miss that feature too, it would be cool to be able to turn it off and on.

You can pause the game with debugger in runtime through event editor. It's like breakpoints.

Re: Remember in the Games Factory?

The pauses of the debugger look like they only take effect after the event list has been run through entirely for one frame of the game - I'm talking about breakpoints within the event list itself, so the effect of one single event could be seen.
