MMF2 is really lacking music objects

There's Directshow which kinda does it's job but not too well. I heard someone say it's basically Windows Media Player, but it's not. There are quite a few types of mp3 etc that it cannot play, that Windows Media Player can.

Is anyone likely to make a music object that can play nearly any file (DMC2 style)? The option to retrieve data about the file would be useful too (length, artist, etc).

Just a thought, I'm not gonna bug anyone to make it, it would just be a nice addition

Dunno if anyone would make this; the only reason I can think of for having these features in MMF2 is if you wanted to make a media player... and why bother when we already have WMP?

If you need music in a game you can use OGG format, which is actually better than mp3.

What does OGG actually achieve? I've never used it and am currently using mp3 in my game.

OGG is like MP3 but it's a free licence.
