    Text to Speech Activex

    Has anyone used this?
My son created a talking robot for a school project. It is a physical robot made of card and sticks onto a computer screen. There are cutouts for the mouth, and one in the middle as a sort of activity screen (like a teletubby).
The robot does maths problems and sinmple games and 'talks' using an activex ontrol (even has moving lips) but I don't know which one!

The text to speech controls had been added to our PC as part of another program ( Inspiration ) and MMF found the activex ok.
I found details on clickwiki how to install activex controls as part of the application, but I can't find the actual control. It does not end in OCX or .com, as far as I can tell, I can only find Dlls.

As an interim we used the trial version of Inspiration with his robot so that it would work, but it would be good to be able to remove this installation (complete with retart) from the loop.

There are numerous ways to download the text to speech capability, but I can't figure out what actually needs to be activated for it to work.

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks
    Taccy

I don't know if it is what you want, but you may wish to try the Text To Speech Object.

    Re: Text to Speech Activex

    Thanks Josh,
I did try the text to speech object, however it was not as advanced as the activex control, for example the activex control provides lips that move in sync with the spoken text.

My only problem is how to install text to speech on another PC more efficiently than installing a completely independant application.

Whwn you install microsoft text to speech there are a lot of files copied to the PC and I want to know what to activate to get the activex in the registry.
