    Can't update MMF1.5 app to MMF2

I have an MMF1.5 application that I want to convert to MMF2. The problem is that it has the old DirectX change resolution extension (DXRes aka kcdxres.cox) and I can't get it out of my application. I only used it in the beginning of the first frame. There was only a couple of events associated with it and they were only located in the objects own behavior. When I delete the object, save the app and import it into MMF2, it says it can't find kcdxres.cox. I checked all the other events to make sure it still isn't being referenced somewhere and didn't find anything. I have no idea what to do!

copy old kcdxres.cox to X:\Multimedia Fusion Developer 2\Extensions (maybe also X:\Multimedia Fusion Developer 2\Data\Runtime)

    and rename to kcdxres.mfx

you should now at least be able to load it up in MMF2

Don't forget to remove it later.

You should not do that unless you want unexpected behaviors and maybe an unstable MMF2. :P

Instead copy the MMF1.5 extension (.cox file) to this folder:
    \Extensions\mmf1\

Then you will be able to open up your file, but MMF2 will not run before you remove the MMF1.5 extension.

I'm pretty sure MMF2 will ignore the extension if you do it maVado's way because the extension "version" isn't MF2.

This object could be used in global events or in behaviors, have you checked them?

Well at least it worked for me with a beta pathfinding extension from 1.5 which I used for my game, and it's still in my folder and I can still open my old cca source now. However I cannot add this object, it's not in the list( I guess it will not be identified as a MMF2 ext. ).

You can't just rename a MMF 1.5 extension from .cox to .mfx and expect it to work because they are, as I am 99.999% sure it will not. You can place it in the \mmf1\ folder which will usually allow you to open your application and remove the object but it won't show up in the "add object" dialogue.

    Re: Can't update MMF1.5 app to MMF2

    Thanks for the replies.

Well, I already put kcdxres.cox in the MMF1 folder. Doesn't really help though as I can't run or build the app since I still can't get the extension out of it.

I checked the global events and object behaviors and wasn't able to find any reference to the extension. I'll do another pass though tonight as there are a lot of objects (I'm 99% sure it was only referenced in the first frame though and there are only 5 objects in that frame). I'll also try making a new app and copy all the frames over to it and see if it still shows up.

    Re: Can't update MMF1.5 app to MMF2

Well, I still wasn't able to find any events referencing kcdxres. I did however try copying all the frames into a new app and kcdxres.cox disappeared! The application now runs, though a couple of things got mixed up in the process. It should be quicker to fix them instead of having to make the whole app over again.
