Frame editor: scrolling in large frames

    Hi,

I am currently working on a fast moving level in my game, in which the player is controlling a fast moving monorail. The level is about 51000px wide by 1000px high, for obvious reasons.

The level features numerous places along its length where the player can dismount the train and explore a small area. The trouble is, the frame editor is giving me serious problems when it comes to designing these small sections of level.

Because of the large size of the level, the frame editor is for some reason scrolling in huge increments; clicking the scroll arrow will scroll the screen by more than a screen's length. Is there a way of adjusting the scrolling increment, or a better way of scrolling?

If not I would like to request that the frame editor scrolling be refined in the next build please.

Re: Frame editor: scrolling in large frames

I think there's a bit of a bug/inconsistency with entering frame size. In Build 245, the max size you can enter in the frame's property box is 9999x9999. However in the Storyboard editor, you can enter 20000 OK. But if you enter 50000, it changes it to 8!

The amount of scroll you get clicking on the scroll arrow directly relates to the frame size. At 9999, one click is about 120pixels, and at 20000 it's about 240.

I'll add it to the todo list.

PS: Sarah, the limit in the frame size property boxes is 99999, not 9999, at least on my machine. I can change the size of the edit boxes if necessary. I'll check the problem in the storyboard editor, it must be easy to fix.

Re: Frame editor: scrolling in large frames

Hmmm, I've got build 244 on my main machine - and that only allows me to input 3 digits in the frame size property boxes. I'm using a screen resolution of 1024x768 with extra large fonts.
    (Windows XP, SP2).

The tablet PC is build 245, screen resolution 1024x768, with large fonts. (XP, Tablet PC edition 2005, version 2002,sp2)

Must be due to the large fonts, I'll increase the size of the boxes.

You can pan across a frame by holding spacebar and clicking and dragging your mouse around... :I

I would limit it by characters, not by size.

Re: Frame editor: scrolling in large frames

Thanks yves for adding this to the list. I forgot to mention but there also seems to be a problem where if you drag the scroll bar more than about a third of the way to the right on a 51000px wide frame, then it jumps back to the beginning of the frame again.

    Cheers

Oh and thanks for your workaround xerus, very helpful

I'm not sure if I'll be able to fix the second one, but I'll take a look.
