    DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger???

I was doing a very complicated app that does a lot of switching frames and using sub apps. At one point, I had the program so glitchy that it slowed my computer to a crawl and then it said that "DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger encountered a problem and had to close." Someone please tell me if this is a very strange part of MMF2 or a virus.

It's part of the operating system, your application encountered en error and was closed. Do you use Windows 98? or older ?

DrWatson is a program for WindowsXP+ too. You should send your MFA to CT. Then, they will probably have a look.

Right, However on XP it should not reveal itself as "DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger"

    Re: DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger???

Thanks, I just guessed it was MMF2 because of the word "debugger" and I had no idea it had anything to do with Windows. I also didn't think that Windows would have the phrase "Post Mortem" in it, that seems very odd because it is such a morbid phrase.

Post Mortem, here, maybe signify that the debugger has been called just after the crash and not just before (I think).

You know you're in trouble when the Windows debugger crashes!

I used to get Dr Watson windows when an application crashed, but only very occasionally and I can't remember what I did to stop them from appearing - I haven't seen one in at least a year. Before Service Pack 2, Windows XP seemed to like just closing programs quietly without actually telling you they'd crashed.

    Re: DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger???

So, your basically saying that it takes something pretty bad to cause this right? I also forgot to mention that that was what came up the second time I ran the app. The first time a window came up that said "Window initialization error."

    Re: DrWatson Post Mortem Debugger???

A simple example that result in a crash is division by zero.

Any chance that this could happen in your application ?

XP closes application quietly because it was set to:

    Press "Windows + Pause" key

    click on "Advanced"

    click on "Error Reporting"

be Default the second radio button is active ("Enable error reporting")

You can also disable error reporting, just check the various options there

this dr watson aplication, do more truble then helps.

i had few errors in the past with opening folders and with few app's. it used to slow my pc and to almost stuck it, altough it happend rare.

anyway, i canceld the dr.watson proccess from the control panel(or i deleted the dr file..can't remember how i did it, but i will find out and help you if you like), and now all my poblems gone away.

just type in google:"disable dr.watson windows xp" and you will get link to microsoft page that explane, how to stop the proccess.
after all, windows is a program like we build and its not bug free
