    external sound files

I have been using direct show to play externally saved files

looking at some other threads it sounds like I can use MMF2 to play external sound files

    I don't get how

can someone point me to this, or an example or an old post or something?

    thanx

    Dave

Well, it says load video, but sounds work just as well.

I just move the little direct show 'X' thing out of the frame.

    Re: external sound files

Sorry maybe I was not clear in my explanation

I want to use something which is not direct show to play the files

I saw that some one had to include the filters (ogg wav) which I see in the properties window

    does this make sense?

    Re: external sound files

Are you happy for the sounds to be imported into MMF2 or do they need to stay external?

If you want them to be imported then use the "play sample" action of the sound object in the event editor.

If you want them to stay external then use the "play sample file" action. Just remember that you then need to go to the application's properties and change the filter mode from automatic to manual and ensure any filters you use are included.

    Re: external sound files

Okay I am having a "duh" kind Of afternoon...

If i choose "play sample file on channel" then I can use "expression" to choose the file which then stays external to the program itself

I want external files so I can change them at a later date

Thanks all, for your willingness to help me
