    MooQuestion #1

You might see alot of these guys running around in the forum. Everytime i come across a problem with my online game and I try my hardest but It's just too hard, i'll post a topic here. I am
using moogame and recently found out how to make an online game using it.

    MooGame Question #1
    Condition......Event
    ????????.......Send Player On subchannel 5.

As you can see I've put question marks under condition. I've tried lots of conditions such as: Speed Of Player > 1 OR Every 7 Mili seconds OR Repeat while Up,down, left, right arrow keys are pressed.
The work and I can see myself but They Lag! Is there a condition or maybe even an event that can be used instead?

    Heres the example

I'm no genius on this topic, but are you sure it's not because you are congesting the link between applications with too much data? Try sending less data and see if it still lags. For example, try to send just one or two characters across, and only when they actually need to be sent.

    Re: MooQuestion #1

Well, this is the main problem with online games (besides from hacks), how to send less data as possible with less lag as possible.
Well, i don't know really how to solve this problem, but here's some proposals:

    1. You could use a kind of grid system (probably using EasyGrid), and send data everytime a player passing over a grid, but also on someway try to make the player move smooth instead of just poppin´ around.

    2. You could try to read about dead reckonning... which are methods how to reduce lag: http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article914.asp (i haven't read that myself)

    3. Try reading this article, i think it had a method for reducing lag: http://www.clickteam.com/eng/resources/Making%20a%20Game%20with%20MooClick/Making%20a%20Game%20with%20MooClick.html

    Good Luck!

    Re: MooQuestion #1

I've read the article (#3) ages ago.If it wasn't for that I would have no interest in online gaming. I was using mooclick untl I came across moogame. Moogame was made to make online games where as mooclick was proably made to send strings or values through the internet. I decided to use moogame so i dont think the tutorial will help.

    Re: MooQuestion #1

Well.. afaik, MooGame is exactly the same as MooClick, but moogame has a ability to make Dead-reckonning (but it doesn't work).

    Anyway try 1 or 2.
