    Re: REAL light!

a screen large subtractive ink mode(or alpha) "mask" over everything except for the HUD is certianly the best and maybe only way to do what you're after. If you find it effects your frame-rate too much then wait forthe hardware acceleration upgrade and that will likely solve the issue for you.

it would be especially nice if the overlay reduxe and active overlay are updated to support the new ink effects as then you could do really cool lighting and special effects.

    good luck.

    Re: REAL light!

Ok I've made an example file on how to use overlay object and an active object (blurry circle) to make lights. The only problem is that the overlay object does not have a 'subtract' ink effect, so the whole example is useless. Would have been great too, because it had multiple lights flying around. Such a shame.

EDIT: Ok I've rigged it so it uses a huge alpha channel object to compensate for overlay's lack of a subtract ink effect.

awesome! Thanks much for taking the time to make this example.

This will do great once hardware acceleration is supported and hopefully either the overlay extensions or the alpha chanel object are updated to support hardware acceleration as well.

    Re: REAL light!

Thank you very much! Is hwa something you just put into the game, or will i have to work it in to the game and addapt the whole game after it? Because if it's just like an extension then i could use this method, and just add hwa when it comes out.

Okay. What's the most effective method to do this if you only need ONE light source? Is there a way that not requires hwa?

It is ALOT faster, and doesn't require HWA if there is only one light source. All you have to do is set the ink effect of the light object to subtract, and make 4 actions for the overlay object that will draw rectangles around the edges of the light, so if fills in the area around the light. You can delete the alpha channel object.

I'll make an example file when I get a chance.
