[request:]ping object? &small change to FTP object

Hi,

I have 2 requests which I searched long for to find alternatives than to ask for an object / change to an existing object.

The first one seems very easy to make.
Would anybody please build a ping extension for MMF 1.5?
It only needs to try ping an ip-address once and to make it able to find out if it worked or not.
edit: To complete the reason for this extension. I "need" this object to prevent long freezes in an application updater I'm still making. But when internet is disconnected, or server is unreachable and I try to reach a dummy file (which I now use to find out if there is a connection possible) it freezes for quite a while, when trying.
But I had more reasons why this extension could be very handy.

My second question is, when connecting to a server using MMF's default FTP object. It gives a dialog box when the user/pass is incorrect and it askes for a new one.
This only crashes the flow of my program and I'd like it not to ask for it, but there is no option to disable auto-asking logon details.
Does anybody have a solution for this, or is there a possibility the option can be added to the FTP object?
