    Strong Lag/Pause when music changes

I noticed MMF2D has a strong lag or pause when it changes music, anyone know why that is - or why it's been limited to Midi's only?

Not that I've not found or made some nice Midi's - just making a game in today's market relys on good graphics and sound too...Can't have my program stopping for 2-3 seconds just to change some background music when a Boss character strolls on to the screen...

First of all, its not been limited to midis only. Most people use Ogg Vorbis (a similar format to mp3).

Are your sound files external? If so, the pause may be occurring because the music has to be loaded into the RAM before it can be played.

Can MMF2D internalize files to remove that - and if so how might it do that? - and I've been thumbing through the previous 5 years of posts on OOG and even MP3's - my MMF2D never showed OOG files on the lists when browsing - so I shalt check on that.

To quote Francois: "It is not possible with Windows to play a midi file from memory (it would impply to rewrite a midi reader). So the internal file has to be saved in a temporary folder and played as a file, inducing the delay. THis is not a bug."

MMF2 plays .ogg and various other formats, but you have to do *play sample* not *play music* for anything other than MIDI.

Yea I don't know why the 'play ogg file' action is in the samples section, most of the time OGG is used for music. I guess it's that way because midis use notes and OGGs are samples.

Maybe he didn't explain it very well. We could play a midi file from memory but we had no time to make the routines yet. It's in the todo list.
