    Re: Detecting the ALT keys

But not all of them do. I've had experiences in the past where a game using the ALT key has frozen and the only way to get out of it is to turn off the computer because CTRL + ALT + DEL doesn't respond.

I'm glad to hear the extension won't interfer with this process, that's all I was saying.

Windows (XP, Service Pack 1 or higher I believe) is built in a way an application could never disable the Ctrl+Alt+Del shortcut, something went wrong with your computer, or your Windows OS was too old.

Thanks, Liji. I have to admit I haven't experienced this with XP, thanks for the clarification. I do recall one time (on ME I think), a first person shooter hung while I was playing the demo of it. Every time I pressed the ALT key as part of CTRL + ALT + DEL, I could hear my weapon firing!! LOL!

    Re: Detecting the ALT keys

"The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion" does a fair job of blocking everything while it's running.
I get a call come through on Skype.
Try the Skype "Pick Up" shortcut: Alt+Pg Up. Nope, still ringing.
Try to Minimize with Start, Ctrl-Esc, Alt-Tab, Ctrl-Alt-Del. Nope, still full-screen.
Save the game, exit, and the ringing stops. Missed call.

    Grrr...

There is no good reason to block the Windows shortcuts, so you'd better test that this key object doesn't before you release it. I'm fairly sure it won't, I think you have to EXPLICITELY block them, just capturing the alt key doesn't, but it's best to be sure.

EDIT: Ironically in Oblivion the "Alt" key is block

Have you tried the "windows" key of your keyboard in Oblivion ?

That's what I meant by "Start".

    Re: Detecting the ALT keys

Well, it doesn't register a hotkey nor tries to disable a key (Windows XP SP1 and higher will never let a program disable the Ctrl+Alt+Del shortcut easily, especially if the program won't try) so it shouldn't block anything.
Basically it's the same as the Virtual Key object with more conditions, actions and expressions, more ease and more properties.
