Where starts collision?

I´m making a platform game part of my ladder is transparent I´m not quite happy when my player "finds" "notices?" the ladder. Has it something to do with the players hotspot? If left and right part of the ladder are transparent does the collison start when the player collides with the firsth visible pixel of the ladder?

The ladders are tested with the bounding box only.
The platforms are tested with the very top pixel of the graphic (not sure)
The obstacles are tested with fine collision detection (if checked)
