Or maybe give a try to the 3Dmesh object ?
For a simple 3D rotating logo that would probably be the lightest solution (as long as it is reliable enough).

Use the WMV command line encoder that encodes wmv7 or 8 you'll have to get it from microsoft but I've found this to be the best format for video encoding No DRM and all XP machines can decode it. WMP 9 and above. It's not as processor hungry as WMV 9 you can get reasonable compression ratios at 640X480.

I've uploaded a zip with two files in it so you know what I'm talking about.

Intro in mpeg-1 has some slight flickering.

Intro in mpeg-2 is PERFECT for me except for the fact that it can't be played on all XP computers.

I'd need the mpeg-2 intro in wmv, same size. I used some software but the video is too small or becomes messed up.

Just use xviD. I know you said nothing like that, but what you could do is have it automatically download it for them during the installation. It's way better than all the built in codecs available. Personally I think it SHOULD be one of the built in ones.
