Particles...unwanted Gravity?

Sir Isaac Newton appears to be causing me trouble.

I have a Particle Sprayer shooting off 4 particles in 360 degrees with a speed of 1.5 I want the particles to shoot out but quickly come to a halt, so I've added a bit of deceleration (1.05).

The problem is that if there is any deceleration value, it seems to add gravity to particles shot out the bottom half of the sprayer. So four particles shoot out, say two upwards which decelerate just fine. But the two particles shot downwards go up to 3 times the distance as though affected by gravity.

The sprayer has a gravity of 0 and the movement of the particle object is Static.

Any reason why this would happen? Are there known issues with the sprayer?

Just to make sure, you're using the Particle Spray object, right?
In that case, did you set gravity and Windforce to 0?

Affirmative. Particle SPRAY object. Wind 0, Gravity 0.

Setting the Deceleration to anything above 1.0 (such as my 1.1) results in particles shooting out the bottom half of the sprayer falling down whereas the ones on top as expected.
