Java runtime on PDAs? cell phones?

My knowledge of Java is about as much as my knowledge of quantum physics.

Will I be able to make apps with MMF2 that can run on my Smartphone running Windows Mobile?

You might be in luck - there seems to be a free JVM that runs on Windows Mobile that conforms to the JS2E. Normally, mobile devices will have J2ME Java runtimes, which makes them more difficult to program for, but if this works, you might be able to get applications running under Windows Mobile with the existing beta.

I just tried making a java app but the WM6 phone didn't seem to like it.
Went through the loading process but didn't show the app.
This was a Windows for Pocket PC 6 running the Java Machine on it.
Worked ok when you double click the jar file in windows.
For bleeding edge windows Mobile development head over to xda developers.

You'll have to wait for the MMF2 Java for Mobile runtime(s) for this. Francois will work on it after the blu-ray runtime.

I should bone up on blueray as it sounds like CT may have found a rather lucrative niche.
I think everyone will start hammering out java mobile games in the community now how cool is this!

Re: Java runtime on PDAs? cell phones?

MMF2/TGF2 games are perfectly suited to produce mobile games, where the markets been at for quite some time.
its a bit of a shame, that we've waited for so long. :/
