Jave Runtime Options?

Would someone be kind enough to explain the difference between the three options: 1) Stand Alone Java Application 2) Stand Alone Java Internet Application and 3) Stand Alone Java Web Start. Thanks.

A stand alone Java application runs outside of a web browser like a normal application. A Java internet application runs inside a web browser as part of a web page, and Java web start is a way you can launch a stand alone application from a web browser (so it can run like a normal program, but without downloading and installing).

Thank you, Jam. That helped a lot.

I took one of the examples and made builds all three ways. You can run the stand alone by double clicking on the jar file. The applet you can run by double clicking on the htm file. But I have been unable to get the web start to run either outside or inside of my web browser. How does this work? I've double clicked on the .jnlp file and opened both this and the .jar file from my web browser. Any help appreciated.
