    Extensions?

The Java runtime is great, but is severely lacking in vital extensions for even the most basic apps. For example, my christmas competition game will not compile due to lacking these extensions:

    Layer Ojbect
    Array
    Edit Box
    File
    List

Yes, the "Button Extension" maybe needs to be updated too.

    Re: Extensions?

The Java runtime is only Beta right now, so keep that in mind

The readme.txt for the Beta notes that there are a limited number of extensions available right now ... just a few. That is because every extension that can be converted has to be done individually.

That is going to take some time and effort for CT to accomplish. They have to be "ported" to Java, so it it is not just a matter of making a few changes to the existing code.

With patience and some time, we will see the extension list for Java runtime grow. For now, let's focus on issues and bugs.

    Re: Extensions?

I think the only big problem is that I have 135 extensions and only a few of them are java compatible

    Re: Extensions?

This is a beta so don't expect everything to work, The fact that MMF can now build a java app is awesome enough.
Remember CT are also working on hardware accelleration as well as this.

    Re: Extensions?

Extensions will come as Francois and ChrisB have time to convert them. Getting the runtime out for testing is good so once that is perfected the extensions can come quick.

You wouldn't want to do the extensions then change the runtime and redo all the work for some weird reason )

So as soon as things get going the extensions should pop out semi fast.

    Re: Extensions?

Is the SDK going to be released for it? That way us devs could make Java extensions as well. I think it would be neat to have extensions that take advantage of Java only features (Like a set of libs that use Swing for instance)

Yes I think we should see the SDK pretty soon

ChrisB was testing it recently so it should be pretty close to ready.
