tracking possible movements on a board that is hex

    Hey guys,

I hope you had a great holiday season. I finally decided to get back to my board game idea and I ran into a little problem. my board is hex based and I need to track possible movements depending on a number rolled.

I have created a makeshift rig that will tell me when a space is occupied but the problem I am coming up with is how do I track obstructions and show which routes are still possible to the user.

Image the board as a level playing field but users can't enter spaces that are occupied by objects or other pieces. I need to calculate alternate routes around so I know if I can allow the user to make that move or not.

Anybody have any simple solutions? I am sure there may be some crazy math solutions but math isn't my best subject :-)

    Thanks for your help.

Have you tried the new Advanced Path finding object? I think that might work... its here:

only downside is that it requires .net 2.0

    Thanks

A hacky way would be to use the Overlay Redux object (see my gatekeeper example).
