How would I create my own hosting?

Is this possible? I don't know how to. How did other users create their own hosting?

I'm guessing that people own their own webspace, (usually a .com) and are offering to upload peoples games to their site for them. It has hardly anything to do with moosock.

something like apache is needed to run as a webserver, most ISPs do not allow you to host servers though (end user agreement) or use port 80 (to curb trojan use)

Actually most ISPs will allow it only if you have a business account with them, or something along these lines (which cost significantly more than a standard home account). Though they might not get to picky if it's only something small that your using for personal use (they have bigger fish to fry as it were).

Basically, get a computer you don't use, put apache on it so it'll run as a webserver (as NK said), then you have complete control over what your webserver is and does, although it'll run off your home net connection, so it'll be slow if your after a large user base.

Probably best to just rent a server- home broadband connections aren't going to have much bandwidth or high upload speeds.

A good way to go is through Byethost, they have great plans and affordable prices. That's what I use.

Re: How would I create my own hosting?

If you want to use hosting, it's easy to find for free. If you want to "create" hosting, it's a little harder.

I both rent hosting (via bluehost.com) and run a server. If you have some old hardware you want to run as a server, I highly recommend the server edition of Ubuntu Linux as an operating system and Lighttpd as a HTTP server.

If you just want Vitalize hosting, I do offer it for free
