I've recently recieved a Ipaq with WM2003 on it and was wondering if I could make programs for it with MMF2. I looked on the innerned and couldn't really figure out if I could run Java on it.
Any Ideas/Info?

Some WM 2003 devices have java, my mio 8390 smartphone does, if not then no, chances are you will not be able to. Unless there is an official/unofficial update or hack

Probably it is need of Java Mobile which will be released probably at end of this year : (
Okay, thanks for the info. If I find another way I'll post it.

You can run JAVA on any Windows Mobile. Sometimes a JVM is already installed but if not, you can find some JVM for Windows Mobiles (some are freeware, some other not).
However, it's currently impossible to run a MMF2 java application on mobiles because the runtime Java for mobile is not released.
I heard the Java runtime for mobiles has been delayed for a while, correct? I recently purchased a modern Windows Mobile 5 smartphone, the Toshiba G500 - great for the price. However, I've heard that the Windows Mobile Java support is actually not very good. I've heard it's slower than on other mobiles and that the sound support for Java games is often bad. Is this true?

The one that Jam just linked to is a J2SE runtime, which means that it should (in theory) be able to cope with Java programs exported from the current Java version of MMF2. It depends what version of the J2SE it uses, though.

wow ! I'll test this JVM asap ! Thanks Jam for this link
I want to say "it depends"... your mobile (CPU+RAM), the OS on your mobile and of course the JVM installed on it...Originally Posted by Shaun

Yeah a few windows mobile devices don't have a keyboard.
I have a few such devices in my posession.
Touchpad and a few direction buttons and answer and hangup buttons.
I've already tried the WM Java machines and they load the java app but need the mobile build information to execute.
I've been trying on WM5 and WM6 (Pocket PC edition) still no luck yet. The java builder will need to incorporate MIDP information before you can run it. I
