    creating a pause between animations

How can I create a slight pause between a gunfire animation(and sound fx) and the target explosion animation (with sound fx)?

Add an invisible bullet (or visible if you like) to the frame. If you want it invisble, just set the ink effect to semi-transparency and put the coefficient to 128 (the max).

Replace the action "Play animation 'Gunfire'" with "Shoot an object > 'Bullet' towards 'target' at whatever speed" and play sound "Gunfire"

And then put "collision with bullet and target" : bullet > destroy, target > destroy (put explosion animation under disappearing), and play sound "explosion"

Hopefully this is what you were asking and this makes sense.
