Counting the letters in a paragraph

Right... As the subject says, does anyone know how to get the numerical value of the amount of letters used in a paragraph (of a string)?
I hardly ever use strings or texts so i'm at a complete loss.

Len("Hello") is 5, if that's what you mean.

The Len() expression gets the number of characters in a given string. This will include spaces and other characters besides letters, though.

I can't seem to apply this to the current paragraph in display, for some reason.
My bet is on "Text Of A Paragraph" but i can't apply this to any values without getting an error. Len or no Len :'(
