    Hot Spots & Action Spots

Can someone please describe to me the complete ramifications and concepts of each?

Does the hotspot decide where the sprite is drawn from, etc? Does the same frame used twice with a different hot spot make a difference when just playing? How about collisions...

    Just questions I have.

Re: Hot Spots & Action Spots

Hotspots control practically everything about the sprite(s), like their position relative to the other animation frames, the object's coordinates, the pivot for the rotation action, etc

i think the only thing action points are used for are Shoot an object and an alternative creation position for the Create action

i haven't used action points in a long time so i might be missing something

I've checked the help file to try to find more info, but nothing really. I think Clickteam could give some insight about the more *techie* stuff.

Re: Hot Spots & Action Spots

The "hotspot" is the "center" of the image. If you have an animation made from the same frame copied multiple times, but the hotspot is moved 1 pixel down each frame, when you run it you will see the hotspot stay in the same place and the image move up instead.

The "action point" is a user-definable point purely for your convenience, to allow bullets to come from the correct point on an animating sprite etc.
We've wanted multiple action points in MMF for a while, so you could have a top-down space-ship with two guns, an action point on the end of each gun, and be able to fire bullets from both of them easily. With only one action point like we have now it's a lot harder to do this.
