    Beginning again

After looking at several projects made by other people i couldnt gelp but notice that crystal carbonara is just plain... BORING.

So this time i'm going to start again, and involve many many more fun forms of attack.

And now that i have a much better grasp of the whole AI based stuff i am more positive that i can produce btter animations and better enemy movements.

And i'm sure anyone who tryed out my demo would agree that my game is absolute JUN.

Also i've noticed that people don't put a whole lot of work into there designs, like Knytt Stories.

So now if anyone has any advice on how to make a fun looking attack animation, and other stuff involving the game i'm all ears.

Actually, Knytt Stories revolves almost entirely around design. It's not very graphics heavy, but it's major focus is level design and scenery.

As for advice on fun looking attack animations, I haven't played the demo yet, but I would say that nice transitions between normal character stance and the attack animations are always a good idea. For example, instead of a character jumping from standing to attack, have a swift motion to move into the attack, it makes the animations much less choppy looking, and also makes for more aesthetically pleasing gameplay.

    Re: Beginning again

What i need are some anime pixel animation type sites to see how its done, then i can see how they do it, and then make the main character more heroic and tactical.

My first try at this ended up in jumping arounf mostly, and the attacking i didnt enjoy one bit, the only thing i thought about was getting it finished.

But no more, i plan on putting alot of work into this one, first i delete all characters, then try to stick to the design type and layout, because i always mix and match without myself knowing.

i'm gonna need to learn the basics of anime games design first.

But what site would help me the most?

    Got any ideas brandon?

    Re: Beginning again

I wonder what else i could do to really spice it up....

Puzzles would add a really cool element to the game.

OO and maybe an adventure mode rather than just level by level.

And a more advanced lvl up system; but i must stick to the storyline, and i have to figure out how to make the enemies respawn....

Maybe if i use an invisible active object that respawns enemies when you leave screen range of the object.

O and the ability to purchase new and stronger weapons and armor.

All this would require alot of commitment, and i would need a mastermind puzzle maker, cause when it comes to puzzles im pamela anderson

And i've never been good with the whole explosion animations, or the walking animations, but i think i can work on the attacking animations.

    Re: Beginning again

For your animation problem, there is a huge graphic library with MMF2 and many more graphics and sounds came with the Christmas Packs, including characters and explosions, which is what you mainly need.

    Re: Beginning again

oh sorry i completly forgot about the EDIT button.

But i prefer to make my own explosion animations, it may be tough; but i have to learn.

I can't stand the thought of taking or using someones elses work, i've got to much pride to do stuff like that.

QQ: DO i have to use the palette given or are there others i can use?

This 256-color palette is used in two cases :

If your application is in 256 colors
If your true color application is run on a 256 colors machine : in this case, all the colors of the frame will be remapped using the frame palette. If your application is run on a true color machine, then this palette is not used.
The colors are displayed in the left area. Click on the "Import" button to open a file selector : you then have to choose a 256 color picture file (BMP, GIF etc.) and the color palette of the picture will be imported in the program.
So the answer is sort of. The palette changes based on what you are editing.

You said that you could add puzzles, which is a good idea. Just remember to smoothly add it to the game. You don't want a random puzzle or too in it, so try adding it into the adventure.
