    For sorting you can just use the layer object with the event:
    +Always
    -sort by y(decreasing)

    Thanks for the help Darkwing.. actually, I have been doing that (though took me a while to find it)

    My problem is actually, when having multiple Active Objects that require sorting, if one gets sorted correctly, all the others in the scene are suddenly thrown off and I end up walking on people's heads and over buildings...

    honestly, I don't entirely understand the problem yet, nor to what extent I will have to address it. I promise you though, in about 2 weeks or so, I will be crawling to you for advice
