    Using Registry in Install Creater

Im using the wizard and im leaving the default directory blank and clicking on registry. Then under registry im putting the following

    Root key: Hkey_local_machine
    Key: Software\Bohemia Interactive Studio\arma
    subkey: arma

    This doesnt work

Im trying to install a folder with subfolder and a couple of files into a installed game. I want it to find the existing installation of the game and install within the directory.

What is the best way for this?

Ok I figured it out but now I want to make an icon be placed on the desktop with the same target as the game. But I want to add a few more lines to run a mod.

To add a shortcut to the desktop, exit the wizard, select the file in the list and then select the Desktop tab and enter the shortcut name.

Hey Binkster can you give me a hint how you made it working?

I have the same problem. I want the installer to find the existing installation of the game (BF1942). But I'm not sure what registry key to use.

    Thank you.

Sorry for not being real clear. I want to use an existing shortcut that came with the game.. I can add special paremeters to run this mod.

For example Im playing a game called ArmA. I want to use same target info where the exe is installed but I just want to add some extra lines to the target field like -mod=xxxx Then place it on desktop.

Or I can install a totally new Icon but I need it to target the Game exe with the addidional parementers like -mod=xxxx

Re: Using Registry in Install Creater

Well I thought that was it:

    Root Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\BATTLEFIELD 1942
    Subkey: GAMEDIR

    it was not

Now the map is installed in the "EA Games\Battlefield 1942" Folder.
But it needs to be in "EA Games\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels" Folder

I tried to add "Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels" to the Key or the Subkey but both did not work. Do you have any idea, please how to add the right path?

Re: Using Registry in Install Creater

Have you tried creating an installation source folder with your files in the \Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels\ sub-folder and then having it install that. It should then re-create the directory structure you desire.
